Board Mission Statement

April 25, 2000

The mission of the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Board is to fulfill its statutory and public responsibilities to promote excellence in learning for students with visual disabilities in Indiana through leadership, advocacy, accountability, and strategic vision and direction.

To achieve this mission, the ISBVI Board will ensure the continuous improvement of quality, comprehensive services provided by the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Strategic Goals and Objectives

Goal: The ISBVI Board will hold itself and the ISBVI administration accountable for the fulfillment of the "ISBVI's Strategic Targets 1999-2004" and the "ISBVI 2004: A Five Year Plan."

Measurable Outcomes:

Goal: The ISBVI Board will ensure the highest level of educational standards and outcomes at ISBVI by holding the ISBVI administration and staff accountable for the quality of its academic, residential, and outreach programs.

Measurable Outcomes:

Goal: The ISBVI Board will analyze the best practices of other schools and their school boards and compare them with programs and services at ISBVI.

Measurable Outcome:

Goal: The ISBVI Board will work in partnership with the ISBVI administration and staff, ISBVI stakeholders, the Indiana Department of Education, and local school corporations to increase the positive public awareness of ISBVI, and of persons with visual disabilities.

Measurable Outcomes:

Goal: The ISBVI Board will review and approve the ISBVI's Biennial Budget in compliance with IC 20-15-4-3(a).

Measurable Outcomes:

Goal: The ISBVI Board will work in partnership with the ISD Board to identify areas of collaboration, efficiencies in the administration of ISBVI and ISD, and other best practices.
