 Use of State Property for Personal Use

Policy:  It is the policy of the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and in accordance with the State of Indiana Ethics Commission’s Rules and Regulations to establish acceptable parameters regarding the use of state property. 

 

Employees of the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired may not use any property owned by the State of Indiana for the purpose of conducting personal business, and is not for the purpose of generating financial or personal gain.”

 

Employees of the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired may use school telephones for personal use provided the use is during non-state time, lunch time or scheduled break time and if of a long distance nature, charged to their personal account, and the use is for the purpose of conducting personal business as long as such use is infrequent, of short duration, does not interfere with the performance of assigned duties and made on the employee’s personal time, and is not for the purpose of generating financial or personal gain. Employees may use computers for personal use provided the use is during non-state time, lunch time or scheduled break time and is in compliance with the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired’s Technology, Local Area Network, and Internet Policy 0-7. Copy machines may be used at a per page copy rate of .07 cents.  Fax machines may be used at a per page copy of .10 cents plus any long distance charges. No other state property may be used for personal use on or off campus.

 

Procedure: A request for use of equipment form (available in the business office) will be submitted to the immediate supervisor for approval.  Upon approval, the form along with remuneration for use of the copy machine(s) and/or fax machine(s) will be submitted to the business office.  Remuneration for use will be placed in the operating fund of the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
