Outreach and Related Services

Outreach staff members provide the following vision-related services free of charge to parents and professionals in school, home and community settings:

·   Consultations, observations, assessments, and direct services in     school, home, and/or community settings

·  Assistance in locating resources relating to visual impairment and      skill development

·  Loan of specialized materials to families and agencies serving      children who are blind and visually impaired

·  Annual parent training conferences

·  Training and assistance with functional vision/ functional literacy     assessments

·  Workshops and presentations for schools, families, or agency staff

·  Summer assessment camp for children ages 3 through 5

·  Summer school sessions for school age students

·  Transition Weekend for high school students and their families

·  Orientation & Mobility consultations to evaluate skills, train staff, and     offer program suggestions; direct services available on a fee-for-    service basis

·  Short Course program to provide intensive instruction in expanded     core curriculum, O&M instruction, Braille instruction, Assistive     Technology, etc.

·  Low Vision Clinic to provide low vision services and loan of optical     devices
